INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS WELCOME TO THE PRENATAL PRIMER
Your healthcare provider has recommended that you review the Prenatal Primer, a web-based, interactive guide to your prenatal testing options. You may use this guide from any place where you have access to the internet – your own home, a library, or any other location.
How do I use the Prenatal Primer:
- Go online and type in the link for the Prenatal Primer. The link to the website is:
http://www.prenatalprimer.com
- Registration Step 1. On the registration screen for the Prenatal Primer, you will be prompted to enter the Practice login name and password.
Enter the login name your doctor provided for you __________________ Enter the password that your doctor provided for you ________________ After you register, you will be able to change your password.
- Registration Step 2. You will be prompted to set up your own login name. You will also be prompted to provide information that will help your physician identify you: full name, date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number.
- Review the Prenatal Primer. You can now proceed with the educational and decision support modules on prenatal testing options that are provided by the Prenatal Primer. You will be asked to enter information about your pregnancy, and you will be able to explore customized information about the prenatal testing options available to you. The entire experience will take about 15 – 30 minutes, depending on how many options you would like to explore. You can log out, save your progress and return to the Prenatal Primer at any time. At the end of the guide, you will be asked to select a preferred prenatal testing option, which will be sent by fax to your physician. You may also print out your testing plan for your reference.
- Discuss Your Choice with Your Physician. At your next appointment with your physician, you can discuss the prenatal testing option that you selected in the Prenatal Primer to confirm that it is right for you and ask any other questions about testing that you may have.
